Finally! Other therapists are seeing that what I kept saying all along is true. Working on prenatal clients mostly in a side-lying position is best for the mother-to-be!
My Instincts Were Correct
We have been doing prenatal massage for 7 years and in that time I have debated with myself over whether or not to do our prenatal massage using one of the many special pregnancy tables that will allow the client to receive massage in a face-down (prone) position even when she is far along in her pregnancy. I never did because, to me, it would put a lot of stress on the ligaments surrounding the belly in that position.
So, in 7 years, I kept our system of working on our ladies first with them in a reclining face-up position then side-lying. We use pillows to keep them extremely comfortable and they are able to fully relax and enjoy their session.
Comments From Other Therapists on Facebook
Lately, in the various prenatal massage Facebook groups and online forums, many therapists have commented that they have had several clients get super nauseous and light-headed while laying face-down in the prenatal table with the hole cut out for the belly. More than a few of the therapists said the client actually threw up and the prenatal clients were far along or toward the end of their pregnancies when throwing up is not common! The clients had not been throwing up at any other time other than when they were put in that position on that special prenatal massage table.
Come Experience The Best Prenatal Massage in the Area
Now I know our setup is the best. We are also certified in prenatal massage and we offer REAL pain relief to our clients. We incorporate warmed stones into our bodywork to help do deeper work in areas where our Moms have pain or discomfort. The massage itself is more of a medium pressure throughout and our prenatal clients emerge feeling like a brand new person!

Something to think about: This is the holiday season, so if you are pregnant or if your spouse, friend, or significant other is pregnant, I can tell you that massage is especially needed at this time of year. It is already a challenge being pregnant and you add the holidays into the mix and it is way too much.
